Why We Built SpecuLink

"Hey everyone, I'm Jason Kerwin, Founder and Chief Product Officer of SpecuLink."

My background is in architecture and construction, and over the years, I've managed tens of millions of dollars in projects and built out complex automation for various companies.

Unlike legacy software creators, I am not a home inspector—and I believe that is one of our greatest strengths. Because I am not locked into one rigid way of inspecting homes, we built SpecuLink with zero bias to give YOU complete freedom to customize your own software workflow.

Throughout my career, I kept running into the same frustrating problem. Whenever we had strategic meetings about innovating or building better tools to provide more value to customers, we always hit a wall of corporate red tape. The answer was always, 'We can't do that.' But having worked deeply in systems and development, I knew that in the software world, there is always a solution.

I’ve managed a lot of sales and operations teams over the years, and I’ve always believed heavily in servant leadership. As a leader, I work for people. My job is to build systems and create efficiencies that unblock their true potential.

That mindset naturally carried over when my journey into the home inspection industry began. I spent a lot of time working with a major national home inspection franchise, mentoring and speaking with inspectors across the country on a weekly basis. I quickly realized this is an industry full of incredible people who genuinely care about protecting their clients on the biggest investment of their lives.

But they were being held back by their tools.

Inspectors were paying premium monthly fees for clunky, legacy software. The support was terrible, the tech was outdated, and when they asked for improvements, they hit that exact same wall of corporate red tape.

I saw an opportunity to finally build something different—to take that servant leadership approach and apply it to software.

So, I built SpecuLink. We ripped out the corporate fluff and the red tape to build a premium, all-in-one Business Operating System designed to do three things:
